Gaedels Get Better of Spectres, 11-8
|
The St. Louis Gaedels stopped the Philadelphia Spectres, 11-8, behind an impressive performance from Geri Rengifo. The four-time Gold Glove Award winner made life miserable for Philadelphia pitching. He went 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 4. St. Louis reliever Hector Roybal was the winner. His record is now 5-1. John Guzik took the loss. Getting the save was Tso-i Mak, his 1st.
Early in the game, Rengifo had a grand slam home run for St. Louis. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Gaedels on top, 4-0.
In postgame comments to the St. Louis Today, Rengifo said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win makes St. Louis 47-69.
