Tadeu Carneira, who led the EC in strikeouts with 265 last year, was in top form in a tight contest between Los Angeles and Portland. The Stars right-hander helped his team beat the Dragons, 3-0. Raiko Leon got the save, the 20th for him this season. Los Angeles is in second place in the Western Conference Duviel Zaldivar Division with a record of 63-53.
With two out in the bottom of the sixth, Chris Brankin put Los Angeles in front, 2-0, with a run-scoring single. The Stars went on to win the ballgame.
Brankin attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
