Destroyers Sneak By Aces, 8-7
The San Diego Destroyers withstood a fine game by Las Vegas right fielder Juan Carrizales at Seaward Stadium, to upend the Aces, 8-7. Carrizales was 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. San Diego reliever Cruz Ponce, who finished 2nd in the WC in wins with 17 in 2078, was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Jason Petruska took the loss for Las Vegas. San Diego, at 62-54, occupies third place in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.

Miklas Shervill was the walk-off hero for San Diego. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Destroyers right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Shervill said.
