|
Portland got a first-rate effort from pitcher Charlie Petipas, who frustrated Los Angeles hitters en route to a 2-1 Dragons triumph at Stars Ballpark. Petipas yielded no runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 4-3. At 59-55, the Dragons are currently third in the Western Conference Eddie Izurieta Division.
Portland used the timely hitting of Shigenobu Shimamoto to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Dragons on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Good ballgame," said Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers. "But we came up on the short end."
