Friars Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
The San Francisco Friars downed the Houston Aquas, 5-4. The hitting star was center fielder Bryce Gekas. Gekas went 2 for 2 with a triple and a walk for the Friars. Edwin Maes got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 1.1 innings. Ricky Sauri recorded the save, his 1st.
Gekas broke a deadlock in the top of the eighth inning, when he hit a sacrifice fly, putting San Francisco up, 5-4.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Gekas said.
The win puts San Francisco at 2-2.
