In a low-scoring affair between the Phoenix Thunderbirds and the Alaska Kodiaks, pitcher Carlos Torres was the difference between victory and defeat. The Phoenix left-hander earned kudos in the 2-1 Thunderbirds win. Andy Miao sewed up the save, his 1st. The Thunderbirds go to 11-26 with the win.

Cody McLaughlin had a big solo home run for the Thunderbirds in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Phoenix leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a sinker from Jack Perry, who is rated as the 47th best prospect by BNN, and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Thunderbirds on top, 2-0.

"I was able to fill up the zone," said Torres.
