Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the San Francisco Friars and Phoenix Thunderbirds.

San Francisco picked up a win at Staples Field, bumping off the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 4-3. Pitcher Mike McClure was a major reason the Friars emerged victorious. The San Francisco win streak is now 3 games.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Bobby Rojas came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Phoenix pitcher Bernd Miller, he hit a 3-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Francisco on top, 4-3.

"Mike's as tough as he is talented," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
