Toros Use Late Rally to Win
|
Starting pitcher Feng Shuai fulfilled his part of the bargain, helping the Tucson Toros stymie the Portland Dragons, 5-1. Reliever Kurt Bozek picked up the win. His record improves to 5-3. Luke Torres took the loss. The Toros raised their record to 59-54.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Zahi Cobo? The 2078 Rookie of the Year Award winner Cobo stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put Tucson up, 2-1. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
Said losing manager Greg Carpenter: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
