Nosediving Destroyers Lose, 6-3
|
Asa Hornyak had a good game, but he could not keep the San Diego Destroyers from falling, 6-3, to the Montreal Harfangs at Mount Royal Park. The San Diego first baseman was 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 3 runs and scored once in the loss. Jorge Baeza, 3-4, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Dave Landazuri earned his 2nd save, after closing out the game.
An inflection point occurred with no one out in the bottom of the seventh. That's when Harfangs catcher Alrigo Dini hit a fastball from Roland Cooper for a 2-run single. Just like that, Montreal was up, 4-3.
"We're trending in the wrong direction," said San Diego manager Steve Alstadt.
The losses continue to add up for San Diego, having now dropped 8 straight.
