Phantoms Winners, 5-3, at Stars Ballpark
|
The Chicago Phantoms picked up a win at Stars Ballpark, topping the Los Angeles Stars, 5-3. On the mound for Chicago was left-hander Tetsukazu Kaneda. He played a principal role in the triumph. Simone Banatoni earned his 3rd save, after closing out the game. The Phantoms are now 59-53, while the Stars fall to 53-59.
Chicago took a 5-3 lead on Dave Yerges's 3rd triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Yerges hit in the top of the ninth, left Los Angeles pitcher Dustin Kerley visibly frustrated.
"Tetsukazu kept his poise and got the job done," said Chicago manager Sam J. "He was outstanding."
