Houston Aquas starter Slider Brooks was dealing. He helped his team knock off the San Diego Destroyers, 3-0. Andy Miao closed it out for Houston, earning his 1st save. The Aquas, at 48-64, inhabit last place in the Western Conference Michael Fridy Division.
Houston first baseman Ruben Escobar contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 35th hit of the season and put the Aquas ahead, 1-0.
"Makes our job easier," said Escobar, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
