Friars Net 5-2 Win
|
San Francisco pitcher Chris Maxwell had a large part in his team subduing the Kansas City Athletics, 5-2. The opposition could never mount much of a rally against the left-hander. Dave Fife, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Jose Alonzo earned the save for San Francisco.
Manuel Chavez hit a run-scoring double off Jonathan Zelina in the bottom of the sixth, which put the Friars in front, 3-2. In addition to the double, Chavez had 1 single, while going 2 for 3.
"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Maxwell.
The setback makes Kansas City 9-27.
