Alaska Kodiaks starter Taisei Yamamoto pitched a strong game against the Chicago Phantoms at Foster Field, leading the Kodiaks to victory, 4-2. Yamamoto, now 1-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 2 runs. The save went to Antonio Melgar, his 1st this season.

Alaska used a clutch at-bat from Jae-ho Choe to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Kodiaks ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Bottom line," said Chicago skipper Sam J, "we didn't play well enough to win."
