Mike Blain never let St. Louis get something going. The Buffalo right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Rangers to a 2-1 win. Buffalo pitcher Phillip Dalley earned the win, hiking his record to 4-1. Luis Espiricueta suffered the loss. The Rangers, at 58-52, sit in second place in the Eastern Conference Benito Cossutta Division.

Had Leo Arboleda not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Arboleda hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rangers.

"Mike was hitting his spots and everything had life," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman.
