Vikings Lose, 4-1
|
Houston registered a win at Minneapolis Grounds by beating the Minneapolis Vikings, 4-1. Pitcher Chris Sayler was one reason why the Aquas triumphed. The winning pitcher was Sayler, now 4-10. He tossed 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 9. Picking up his 11th save was 26-year old left-handed pitcher Victor Romero.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Joe Amaya to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the second inning to put the Aquas ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Watch and learn," said Amaya. "This is what good pitching looks like."
The Aquas are now 35-74, while the Vikings fall to 52-57.
