Gaedels Use Late Score to Top Lobster, 6-5
|
The St. Louis Gaedels faced a tough opponent in Maine pitcher Slider Brooks, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Veeck Park by a final score of 6-5. Brooks went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Diego Solis was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Tien-kai Ec. St. Louis is now 15-20. Maine is 14-22.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when St. Louis designated hitter Tatsuma Matsuura, facing Raudelin Proenza, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Gaedels the 6-5 win.
"This place was electric at the end," Matsuura said.
