Dragons Win, 3-1, at Denver
|
In a well-pitched game between the Portland Dragons and the Denver Glaciers, pitcher Oscar Mercado was superb. The Portland right-hander helped his team win, 3-1. Mercado, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 6 and giving up 2 walks. Charlie Petipas earned the save for Portland, his 2nd of the year.
Portland used a timely hit from Jordan Flores to get the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Dragons ahead, 3-1. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"We're in a little funk right now and we've just got to get ourselves out of it," said Denver manager Todd Bleess.
The loss drops Denver to 0-4.
