Great Effort by Wolves 3B Fronteira Not Enough in 7-4 Loss
Vancouver designated hitter Per Fronteira had a good game, even if his team did not. The Wolves dropped a 7-4 decision to Phoenix at Legednary Park. Fronteira hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 and driving in 3. Jay Barrientos, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-1. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 1. Ko Morita closed the door for Phoenix, picking up his 3rd save of the year.

In the bottom of the second, Phoenix left fielder Billy Morf had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Morf stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, Phoenix. For the game, he went 1 for 3 with 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"I thought we competed really well," said Thunderbirds manager Joe Busch. "I thought the energy was really good."

The first-place Wolves have lost 5 consecutive games.
