4-2 Loss to Toros Extends San Francisco Losing Streak
|
The Tucson Toros faced a tough opponent in San Francisco pitcher George Roscoe, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Aetna Stadium by a final score of 4-2. Roscoe went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Greg Sams came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. This loss makes it 8 in a row for San Francisco.
Brian Zeeff drove in 2 runs for Tucson. With one out and the game tied in the bottom of the seventh inning, Zeeff, who is a three-time All-Star, had a clutch at-bat. Facing San Francisco hurler Salvatore Pino, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Toros a 3-2 lead.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Erich Weatherholt told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
