9-4 Loss Deepens San Francisco Funk
Juan Villa impressed in the 9-4 Tucson win over San Francisco. Villa, who is tied for 5th in the WC with a .411 on-base percentage, went 1-2 with 2 walks. He scored 4 times and drove in 2. Raul Garibaldi snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 2 innings. He's now 3-0 on the season. The slumping Friars have dropped 7 in a row.

With Tucson leading 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh, Villa hit a 2-run single off San Francisco hurler Dave Fife. It was the 20th hit of the season for Villa and put his team ahead, 7-4.

"We're trending in the wrong direction," said San Francisco manager Erich Weatherholt.
