Zatarain Stars as Twins Top Spectres, 7-4
|
The Cincinnati Twins topped the Philadelphia Spectres, 7-4, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Cincinnati shortstop Luis Zatarain was a spark plug for the offense. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Phil Cromsie earned the save for Cincinnati, his 4th of the year. The win hiked the Cincinnati record to 17-16.
In the top of the seventh, Cincinnati right fielder Tim Champion had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Champion stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 4-2, Cincinnati. For the game, he was 3 for 5 with 3 singles.
"Winning never gets dull," said Champion.
