Avispas Solve Harfangs, 6-2
|
The Santiago Avispas got a stellar effort from pitcher Julius Miller, helping Santiago score a win over the visiting Montreal Harfangs, 6-2. Miller got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 5 hits and walked 4 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Pat Cochran earned save number 1 this season.
Jonathan Villegas had a big 2-run double for the Avispas in the bottom of the second inning. With Santiago leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a changeup from two-time All-Star Tom Dobie and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Avispas ahead, 3-0.
"When you are able to locate the ball, good things are going to happen," said Miller.
The Avispas, now 3-0, have stormed out of the gates.
