Senators Win, 13-11, in 14
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the New York Titans home opener. Gil Eckenroth started for the home team against Rajam Masrani for the Washington Senators. The Titans were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 13-11, Washington. Bob Rogers Jr., though, was impressive. Vinny Valdez got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Alex Tejeda drove in one run for Washington. The 31-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the 14th. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 7-7 tie with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch off Nees van Santen. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
"We've got a great group of guys," Tejeda said, "and we're having fun right now."
