Cyclones Pull Out Late Win, 3-2
|
The Miami Cyclones, despite a fine performance by San Francisco pitcher Bill Zamora, grabbed a 3-2 win at Kroger Stadium. Zamora allowed no runs over 6.1 innings. Nestor Fajardo picked up the win in relief for Miami, while John Smallwood took the loss. The victory gives Miami a record of 17-16.
Miami got a knockout punch from Omar Monge. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Cyclones," said Monge.
