Gaedels Lose Late to Lobster
Starting pitcher Tom Dobie gave the Maine Lobster a rock-solid effort. The Hamilton, Canada native helped his team defeat the St. Louis Gaedels, 2-0, at Ballpark of Portland. Reliever Gerald Blackman picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Dave Valenzuela took the loss. Masato Nishihara earned the save for Maine, his 5th of the year.

Lanny Tabares, who is tied for 3rd in the EC in runs scored with 30, chipped in a 2-run home run for Maine in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.

Said St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick: "They pitched the heck out of us."

The triumph puts Maine at 18-15 for the season.
