Minneapolis Gets 9-2 Win Against Wolves
|
Boosted by the 4-hit performance of Sam Cone, who is tied for 4th in the WC in triples with 2, the Minneapolis Vikings defeated the Vancouver Wolves, 9-2. Jose Madrid was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he yielded 1 run on 5 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. The win gives Minneapolis a record of 19-12.
Gilberto Cerda hit a 2-run double off Roberto Rueda in the bottom of the third, which put the Vikings in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Cerda had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
Said losing manager Zach Meinen: "It's very easy to sit in an ivory tower and critique the pitching, but the bottom line is we need to score runs."
