The San Diego Destroyers took Brooklyn pitcher R.J. Mendenhall's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Brown Town. The final score had San Diego getting past the Browns, 5-2. Mendenhall went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 6. The winning pitcher was Bob Castillo. He tossed 76 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 1 run on 7 hits. The Browns fall to 12-18.
San Diego won the game in part because of Tsuneteru Shimada. The first baseman ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Destroyers ahead, 1-0. For the game, Shimada had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
