Kings Earn Win with Late Rally
The Baltimore Kings weathered an outstanding game by Maine first baseman Lanny Tabares to topple the Lobster, 5-4. Tabares was 2-5 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Julio Olivo, who finished 5th in the EC in saves with 27 in 2073, earned the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-0. James L'Hommedieu earned the save for Baltimore, his 3rd of the year.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Francisco Mateus was at the plate when Baltimore scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Kings to go in front, 5-4.

"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Mateus told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."

The win gives Baltimore a record of 18-12.
