Vikings Slap 5-2 Loss on Thunderbirds
Minneapolis Vikings right-hander Josh Hawes pitched a good game against the Phoenix Thunderbirds at Legednary Park, leading his team to victory, 5-2. The Vikings, now 20-10, have played well so far.

Gentaro Arakawa had a big solo home run for the Vikings in the top of the third inning. With Minneapolis leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 35-year old right-handed pitcher Ernesto Alvarez and punished it. The result was his 7th home run of the season, which put the Vikings on top, 3-1.

"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Minneapolis skipper Ace Cooan.
