Stars Turn Away Toros, 6-4
|
With catcher Whip Lund leading the charge, the Los Angeles Stars defeated the Tucson Toros, 6-4, at Stars Ballpark. Lund went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Juan Fonseca earned the win, while 27-year old right-handed pitcher Ryan Lloyd took the loss for Tucson. Raiko Leon collected save number 9.
The Stars got a big at-bat from third baseman Bonaventure Moser. For the game, Moser went 1 for 3 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 10th double of the season gave Los Angeles a 5-4 lead.
Los Angeles manager Pat Kaers was pleased with the team's effort. "It was just a good, gutsy performance by everybody," he said.
With the win, Los Angeles climbs to 20-9.
