Gaedels Suffer One-Run Loss at Washington
The Washington Senators beat the St. Louis Gaedels, 5-4, at The ESPN Zone. Washington first baseman Sung-hyo Kym had an outstanding performance. He was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Rajam Masrani earned the win to go to 2-3. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work. Julio Mendoza, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 6th save.

Kym contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Washington in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 4-3, Kym took a fastball from Ben Ford and stroked the home run to right. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Senators to leap in front, 5-4.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Kym, "one at-bat at a time."

The Gaedels, now 9-21, continue their slow start.
