Ballpark of Portland was the site of a tense game between the Havana Metropolitanos and Maine Lobster.
The Maine Lobster got a stellar effort from pitcher Aaron Kopta, helping Maine score a win over the visiting Havana Metropolitanos, 3-2. Maine reliever Chris Bender picked up the win to move to 1-0. Buddy Verveer suffered the loss. Earning his 3rd save of the year was Masato Nishihara.
Keith Cassavaugh chipped in a 2-run home run for Maine in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Kevin Mayerhofer.
The victory makes Maine 14-14.
