Athletics Lose to Stars, 2-1
|
Starting Pitcher Corey LaCognata was lights out, as the Los Angeles Stars beat the Kansas City Athletics, 2-1. LaCognata, the winner, moves to 1-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 2 walks. Kansas City drops to 17-10.
Los Angeles catcher Danny Serrano contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 5th hit of the season and put the Stars ahead, 2-0.
Serrano said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
