Stars Handed 6-2 Loss
|
The Minneapolis Vikings knocked off the Los Angeles Stars, 6-2, at Minneapolis Grounds. Bobby Aguinaga hit 3 singles and 1 double, while driving in 2 runs. Reliever Lesley Deakin picked up the win. His record improves to 1-1. Juan Fonseca, who leads the WC in wins with 4, took the loss. Katsuo Nozawa locked down his 2nd save.
The Stars had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Vikings going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 25-year old third baseman Sam Cone came to the plate. Cone hit a run-scoring double on a 1-2 sinker from Los Angeles hurler Juan Fonseca. It was Cone's 4th double of the year.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Aguinaga.
The win puts Minneapolis at 16-11.
