Estadio Latinoamericano was the site of the home opener for the Havana Metropolitanos. The contest featured a prime matchup between Carlos Yturralde of the visiting St. Louis Gaedels and Benito Cossutta of the Metropolitanos. The final score was 5-1, the Gaedels getting the win. Carlos Yturralde turned in the best performance. Earning his 1st save for St. Louis was Ben Ford.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of O-jun Joh to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gaedels on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We understand we didn't play our best baseball," said losing manager Kevin Mayerhofer. "We'll shower it off and be ready to compete."
