Win Lifts Kings to 16-11
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Baltimore Kings and Cincinnati Twins.
The exploits of first baseman Harold Wicks, who led the EC in runs with 108 last year, helped the Baltimore Kings defeat the Cincinnati Twins, 4-1. Wicks went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. Cincinnati falls to 14-12.
The Kings got a big at-bat from shortstop Vance Kitchen. For the game, Kitchen was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Baltimore a 2-0 lead.
"Makes our job easier," said Wicks, "when our pitchers shut the opposition down."
