Vikings Turn Away Athletics, 3-2
|
Minneapolis pitcher Jose Ortiz had a large part in his team beating the Kansas City Athletics, 3-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Torvald Bakker notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0. The Vikings, now 2-1, have been playing some good baseball.
The Vikings got a big at-bat from right fielder Carlos Dorame. For the game, Dorame was 1 for 4 with a triple, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Minneapolis a 3-2 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan said.
