Down to Defeat Goes Houston, 4-2
|
The Vancouver Wolves knocked off the Houston Aquas, 4-2, in Western Conference action at Fox-Chong Park. Vancouver pitcher and El Rama, Nicaragua, native Jose Madrid had an outstanding performance. Madrid got the win, improving to 1-2. He gave up 3 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Chris Chavarria, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
In the top of the ninth, Alan Manthei stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Aquas were trailing 4-2, but had the bases loaded. That's when Chris Chavarria made a terrific pitch and Manthei grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Houston comeback.
The victory makes Vancouver 11-15.
