Aces Stun Friars, 4-1
|
The Las Vegas Aces went home winners at Western Coliseum, thanks in large part to starter Salomé Sieuve. Sieuve stifled the San Francisco Friars, enabling Las Vegas to grab the 4-1 win. Jimmy Hsia got the save, the 1st for him this season. The win gives Las Vegas a record of 2-0.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Venceslau Pontes came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Francisco pitcher Chris Mayea, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Las Vegas on top, 2-1.
"I like what I saw today," said Las Vegas manager Justin Coroian, "and I can't wait to get back out there and do it again."
