Kodiaks Lose as Glaciers Stage Late Rally
|
Denver and Alaska duked it out and the Glaciers came out victorious.
The Denver Glaciers cut down the Alaska Kodiaks by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to second baseman Ramon Chirino. Chirino was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Glaciers. Denver reliever Joe Mort picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Juneau Beauchamp took the loss.
Chirino had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 fastball from Jeff Amendola, he banged a 3-run home run to left-center, giving the Glaciers a 7-4 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Chirino.
Chirino told a Denver Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The Glaciers raised their record to 2-0.
