Buezo Helps Chicago Outscore San Francisco
|
The Chicago Phantoms defeated the San Francisco Friars, 14-10. Doing his part was first baseman Jose Buezo, who hit 3 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored three times. R.J. Mendenhall picked up the win with 5.2 innings of work. He allowed 2 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 4-1. The win gives the Phantoms a record of 12-14.
With Chicago leading 8-2 in the bottom of the fifth, Buezo came up to bat against San Francisco pitcher John Smallwood. Buezo hit a sinker to right-center for a 3-run home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Phantoms on top, 11-2.
"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Buezo said.
