Thunderbirds Lose 5-4 Decision to San Francisco
|
The San Francisco Friars knocked off the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 5-4, in Western Conference action at Staples Field. San Francisco pitcher and Fullerton, California, native Sal Mejia had an outstanding performance. With the loss, Phoenix sinks to 12-12.
The Friars got a big hit from third baseman Gabe Castro. Facing Phoenix pitcher Joe Gwin in the bottom of the fifth, Castro pounded a solo home run to right. His 2nd home run of the season put the Friars ahead, 5-0.
"Nice to keep our winning streak intact," said Mejia.
