Gaedels Trump Titans, 7-2
|
The St. Louis Gaedels topped the New York Titans, 7-2, in Eastern Conference action at Veeck Park. The standout performance belonged to St. Louis pitcher and Salta, Argentina, native Jose Ruiz. The loss drops New York to 9-14.
The Gaedels got a big at-bat from third baseman Manny Sagastisado. For the game, Sagastisado was 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Sagastisado. "Just do my job."
