Arrows Score Late, Clip Ravens, 5-4
|
Yellowknife wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Mike Blain, falling to the Seattle Arrows, 5-4. Blain threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Reliever Yoichibei Inouye picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Juneau Beauchamp took the loss. With the win, Seattle is 14-9.
The Arrows were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when slick-fielding center fielder Etsuji Obata landed a big blow. He turned a full count fastball from Bill Zamora into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Power Ballpark denizens into a frenzy and sent the Arrows home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"We want to make a habit of winning," Obata said after the game.
