Gaedels Beat Titans, 8-4
|
The St. Louis Gaedels beat the New York Titans, 8-4, at Veeck Park. St. Louis first baseman Neosbel Benavides had the hot bat. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. St. Louis pitcher Andres Anguiano got the win, upping his record to 3-1. Gil Eckenroth got the loss. The loss puts New York at 9-14.
Ryan Clifford had a big 2-run double for the Gaedels in the bottom of the second inning. With St. Louis leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Gil Eckenroth and swatted a double to center. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Gaedels ahead, 3-0.
"Anytime you're seeing it well, it's a good feeling," Benavides told the St. Louis Times.
