Kansas City picked up a win at Ballpark of Missouri, bumping off the Los Angeles Stars, 4-3. Pitcher Arturo Covarrubias was a major reason the Athletics emerged victorious. After losing, Los Angeles is 11-11.

Alex Diaz aided the Kansas City cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a double.

"It's a mindset," said Covarrubias. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
