In a low-scoring game between the Santiago Avispas and the Chicago Phantoms, pitcher Beau Eschmann was masterful on the mound. The Santiago right-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. Ricardo Riveron, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save. The Avispas, now 16-4, have been playing some good baseball.

Mayumi Watanabe, who leads the EC in triples with 2, had a direct impact on the outcome. Watanabe contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Santiago up, 2-0.
