Twins Hope Wins Keep Coming After 9-5 Triumph
|
The Cincinnati Twins defeated the Washington Senators, 9-5, at Cincinnati Grounds. Dustin Calzada, who is the 5th-best prospect in the Twins organization, was a standout performer for Cincinnati. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 3 he knocked in. The winning pitcher was 27-year old right-handed pitcher David Prentice. He tossed 108 pitches over 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The win gives Cincinnati a record of 8-15.
With Cincinnati leading 2-1 in the bottom of the second, Calzada hit a fastball from Kai-xi Jia for a bases-clearing double. It was his 1st double of the season and put the Twins ahead, 5-1.
"Dustin is still learning," said Twins manager Ryan Stoops. "The sky's the limit for him."
