Vikings Stumble, Lose to Thunderbirds
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds got a stellar performance from pitcher Jay Barrientos, who handcuffed the Minneapolis offense en route to a win, 9-1, at Minneapolis Grounds. In 6.2 innings, Barrientos surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The Thunderbirds, now 7-15, have not found much traction so far in 2084.
Fred Otto had a key at-bat with one out in the top of the first for Phoenix. With the bases loaded and the Thunderbirds leading 1-0, he hit a sacrifice fly.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Barrientos.
