Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Los Angeles Stars home opener. Juan Fonseca started for the home team against Jonathan Zelina for the Kansas City Athletics. The Stars were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 3-1, Kansas City, in 10 innings. Juan Fonseca, though, was impressive. Keishi Okamoto earned the save for Kansas City.

Casey Marko, who finished 4th in the WC in runs with 111 in 2080, had a direct impact on the outcome. Marko contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put Kansas City up, 2-1.

In postgame remarks, Marko said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
