Phantoms Mow Down Friars, 9-2
|
The Chicago Phantoms pinned a convincing loss on the San Francisco Friars, 9-2, at Staples Field. Alberto Guardiola was a main factor in the win. He went 4-6 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 runs for Chicago. San Francisco drops to 10-11.
Chicago first baseman Jose Buezo contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a changeup to center field for a 2-run single. It was his 19th hit of the season and put the Phantoms ahead, 4-0.
Said losing manager Erich Weatherholt: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
