Greens Deal Wolves 2-1 Setback
|
In a low-scoring contest, Boston pitcher Tien-kai Ec was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-1 win. Ec yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 2, and struck out 3. His record improves to 6-4. The save went to Adrian Portuondo, number 2 for him.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Greens had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when right fielder Matt Steinruck hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Dave Perez and made the score 2-1, Greens. Steinruck was 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Boston skipper Matt Glazer.
Their 58-50 record puts the Greens second in the Eastern Conference Zach Gavula Division.
